Practice

After practicing for 18 years in New York City, with offices in the Flatiron district and Washington Heights, I have relocated to Kingston, NY. Here, I maintain a smaller practice while continuing to hone my holistic education. One welcome benefit of moving from an urban to a rural environment is the accessibility of farm-fresh food and nature. This makes it much easier to incorporate self-care into a holistic healing plan. I find it so gratifying to be able to play a part in this healing process.

Education

In 2004 I earned an M.S.T.O.M. (Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine) from Pacific College of Health and Science in New York City. I am board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. My post graduate studies included the curriculum at Zheng Gu Tui Na school run by my mentors, Frank Butler and Tom Bisio, which included the following modalities: Tui Na massage, mobilization techniques, orthopedic acupuncture, trauma medicine and Qi Gong for rehabilitation and injury prevention. I then assisted them in their respective clinics. Additionally, I am certified by Sloan Kettering Hospital in NYC for acupuncture as a complimentary therapy for cancer patients. Currently, I am in a course of study with Gary B. Strauss, who is a Master Practitioner of Polarity Therapy and Cranio-Sacral Unwinding.

Community Service

I had the privilege of joining a group of colleagues with the Global Alternative Healthcare Project (GAHP) in a healing mission in North Dakota where we treated the indigenous peoples and supporters on the front lines of the peaceful resistance against the Dakota Pipeline. I facilitate “Community Activism Knitting Circles”. Here we explore the health benefits of meditative handwork practices, setting intention and the far reaching scope of small acts of kindness. In the circles we knit hats and scarves for our houseless neighbors.
